Hair oil to prevent Hair fall and promote Hair growth

Homemade Hair oil for hair growth-to reduce and stop hair fall 

Oil massage is very beneficial for the general health of the hair and it also helps to prevent hair fall.It is good to massage our hair with oil once in a week. Oiling our hair helps to soften it and make it more manageable. It helps to improve blood circulation, lubricates our hair and prevents spit ends. Oiling our hair regularly also conditions our hair and strengthens the root.People with dry hair should oil their hair twice a week as it help in preventing dryness of hair and split ends.

How to apply oil

Take required amount of oil depending on the length and thickness of your hair and warm it lightly.

Make partitions in your hair.

Dip your finger tips in warm oil, apply to your scalp and gently massage in circular motion.

Allow it to soak for an hour and then wash it well with a good herbal shampoo or shikakai.

Choose oil according to your personal preferences or type of hair.

Given below are few traditional homemade hair oil recipes which are passed over to me by my grandma and are tried and tested by me.

Curry leaves Hair oil

Dry curry leaves in the shade. Boil 100 ml of coconut oil and add a handful of curry leaves to it. Then switch off the gas. After it cools, filter it and use that oil to massage your hair. This prevents hair fall and also pre mature greying of hair. Curry leaves can be included in our diet in the form of curry leaves powder or curry leaves thuvayal as they are very beneficial to the health of the hair.

Coconut oil

This is suitable for all types of hair and you can use it as a base for preparing other types of hair oil.Massage you hair with pure coconut oil (not perfumed ones) once in a week. Massage it on your scalp and roots, an hour before bath and wash it off with a good herbal shampoo.

Amla oil

Amla (Indian gooseberry) oil is very benificial in preventing hair fall and early graying.

Mix 50 grams of dried amla (gooseberry) in 500 ml gingerly oil or coconut oil and boil it. Cool it, filter it and use that oil regularly to prevent hair fall.

Mix 50 grams of dried amla in 500 ml coconut oil. Keep it in a glass bottle or glass jar with a tight lid. Keep the glass jar containing the mixture in the sun for 15 days. The oil turns black in color. Strain that oil and use it. This oil not only gives a black color to your hair, but also stops hair fall.

Alternatively you can dry amla in shade and boil the dried pieces in coconut oil till it becomes charred dust and use that darkish oil to nourish your hair.

Henna Hair oil 

Take a cup of henna leaves, dry it in the shade and boil it in 200 ml coconut oil. Allow it to cool. Filter it and use that oil to massage your scalp. It  strengthens your hair roots and prevents hair fall.

Hibiscus Flower Hair oil

Dry 15-20 hibiscus flowers (ordinary red variety) in the sun. Heat 100 ml coconut oil, add the dried flowers, boil it for a few minutes and switch it off. Let the flowers remain in the oil for 2 days. Filter it and bottle it. Apply this oil daily. Applying this hair oil will keep your hair healthy and promotes hair growth. It also prevents hair fall.

Hair Oil to check hair fall & promote hair growth (with vasambu)

Take equal quantities of pure castor oil, coconut oil and sesame seed or gingerly oil. Add a tsp of fenugreek and few pieces of Acorus Calamus (Vasambu) to it. Keep it in the sun for a few days. Apply that oil regularly to stop hair fall and for lustrous hair. This hair oil is very effective in controlling hair fall. 

Neem Oil for dandruff

Are you suffering from dandruff? Have you tried many remedies but could not get any relief. Then try this neem oil treatment. I have prepared neem oil with coconut oil as a base. Dry few neem leaves in the shade. Boil 100 ml of coconut oil, add the neem leaves to it and switch off the flame. Let the leaves remain in oil for a week. The oil will turn green. Filter it and store it in a glass bottle. Apply it on your scalp, let it soak for half an hour. Then wash your hair as usual. Do this regularly every week to get rid of dandruff.

These natural hair oil are easy to prepare at home and can help you to prevent hair fall and keep your hair healthy. Good Luck!

Natural Remedies to cure Dandruff

Dandruff is the problem of the scalp and can be effectively treated with natural home remedies. If not treated, it can lead to other problems like hair loss, pimples and acne, so treat it at the earliest. Find few natural home remedies to cure dandruff  below

1.Curd is a very effective home remedy in the treatment of dandruff. Take half a cup of curd/ plain yoghurt and leave it outside for 3 days (i.e. do not refrigerate). Then massage it on your scalp and wash it off after 30 minutes with besan (bengal gram flour) or a mild shampoo.

2.Sour Curd mixed with a few drops of fresh lemon juice is also an effective natural remedy for dandruff. Apply the mixture and wash your hair after 20 minutes .

3.Take pure coconut oil, warm it, add juice of fresh lemon to it and massage your scalp with it. Wash your hair after 30 minutes. Follow it regularly twice a week. Alternatively you can warm coconut oil, apply it to your scalp and leave it overnight. Next morning, apply juice of one lemon and shampoo after an hour. This natural treatment can be followed once or twice a week to get best results.

4.Soak 2 tablespoons of fenugreek seeds in water overnight. Grind it to a paste and apply it on the scalp. After 20 minutes wash it off with shikkakai or herbal shampoo. Follow it once in a week regularly to cure dandruff naturally. This is one of the oldest and most effective remedy in treating dandruff.

5.Dilute cider vinegar with an equal quantity of water and apply it on the scalp with cotton wool, wash it off after 20 minutes.

6.Grind white pepper with milk, warm it and apply it on the scalp, then wash it off after 15 minutes. Follow this treatment once in a week to get effective results.

Dandruff cure with Neem

Soak neem leaves in water overnight, filter that water and use it for the final rinse. This will help in controlling dandruff as neem leaves have antiseptic properties.

Heat coconut oil, switch off the gas when the oil starts smoking, then add a few neem flowers to it. Close it and keep it aside. When cooled, filter it and use that oil regularly once in a week. Massage it on your scalp 20 minutes before shampooing. Neem is very effective in dandruff treatment.

Application of neem oil 10 -15 minutes before bath is also an effective natural cure for dandruff.

Beetroot in curing dandruff

Boil beets in a cup of water, cool it, use that concentrated liquid to massage your scalp. It helps clear dandruff.

Alternatively, you can even grate raw beetroot, squeeze it juice, mix it with a little vinegar and massage the scalp with it, using your finger tips. Wash it off after 20 minutes with a mild shampoo.

Mix beetroot juice with a little ginger juice and apply on the scalp for 20 minutes and wash it off. This helps in controlling dandruff.

Do’s and Don’ts

Avoid using creamy hair conditioners, use mild herbal shampoos to wash your hair.

Keep your combs, brushes and pillow covers clean by washing them in an antiseptic solution.

Lastly include fresh fruits, soups, salads, yoghurt and sprouts in your diet and drink 8 glasses of water everyday. Avoid fried foods, spicy foods and sweets as much as possible.
